Appeals & Examination Results

Publication of Results - click here for info

Every reason for a variety of reasons people fail exams.

You can appeal or seek a review of a decision on your academic progress under two criteria, which are:

1). On the basis of extenuating circumstances (in other words, you were ill or emotionally upset about something that happened during term-time which hindered your exam performance).  This must be new information which the board of examiners did not have at the time of their initial decision about your academic process (SA1 form needed).

2).  on the basis of procedural or other irregularities in the conduct of the examination, ie if you think your exam was performed in unfair circumstances (SA2 form needed).

IF YOU WISH TO SEEK A REVIEW OF A DECISION YOU HAVE ONLY 7 COLLEGE DAYS IN WHICH TO LODGE AN APPEAL FROM THE TIME THE BOARD OF EXAMINERS MAKE THEIR DECISION ON THE WEB.

If you fail an exam and wish to have it reviewed the Students' Union Education and Welfare Officer can give you advice on whether or not you have adequate grounds, can help you fill in SA1 and SA2 appeal forms and can accompany you as the representative in the interview.  If you wish to appeal you should collect the appropriate review from the Examinations Office or the General Office on your campus not later than 7 college days after the Board of Examiners make their decision on the web.  For more information contact the Students' Union Education and Welfare Office.

Students can not appeal their examination marks - they can only make an appeal if they have failed an exam.
