Role and Responsibilities

Hi folks

My name is Emma Thompson and I am the incoming Vice President for the Jordanstown Campus. I would like to welcome all new students to the University of Ulster and Jordanstown Campus or if you are a returning student welcome back and congratulations on passing your exams, and for those returning from placement I hope you had a good year and are ready for final year.

I am just one of seven sabbatical officers across the four campuses who are here to represent you and work together to resolve the issues facing students at University of Ulster. We are here to assist in whatever way we can with the problems you may face during the year and in general to represent you and work to improve the student experience at University of Ulster both academically and socially. Let us know your views throughout the year by taking part in our student shouts and voicing your concerns.

With the job market becoming increasingly competitive I urge you all to become involved with YOUR students union, the experiences you can gain provide YOU with valuable additions to your CV which could give that competitive edge on leaving University. There are a number of ways to become involved; there are positions as class representatives as well as on bar committees and campus council, you could become a union volunteer or even join a club or society.
