Hi Everyone,
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all new students, both domestic and international to the University and the Students’ Union. I ensure you that, you have made the right university choice; you couldn’t have came to a better place. I would also like to congratulate all of you returning students on your success last year and I wish you all the best for the year ahead.

My position within the Students’ Union is VP Campaigns and Communications, which is an overall position representing all students. This will be my second year within the Students’ Union as a sabbatical, however I am the first and this will be my first year as VP Campaigns & Communications. We had a great year last year with a whole new Students’ Union structure change; we achieved the Students’ Union Evaluation Initiative Bronze Award as well as representing all students at University of Ulster. The VP Campaigns position was made available through the new structure change last year and thanks to a great, dedicated election team I was successfully elected for this academic year. So many thanks to all of you who voted!!

I will do my outmost best to utilize my experience and great passion to fulfil this role. I intend to publicise the work of the Students’ Union to the student body, University and the local Community through various media. I will act as the first point of contact for all campaign enquires at the Students’ Union, so if any of you have any ideas of campaigns they would like to see run on their campus do not be afraid to get in contact with me.

I can only encourage you all to get involved within your Students’ Union this year to enhance your University experience. There is always something going on in the Students’ Union, if it’s not campaigns, protests or referendums, we have numerous societies and a Sports Union to join. This is a great way to meet new friends with the same interests and gets you out and about.

To find out more about the Students’ Union and what we can do for you have a look at our Ufouria magazine, monthly newsletters, global emails and campaigns going on.

To stay in touch with your Students Union look us up and like our University of Ulster Students Union facebook page.

All the best
Ciara
