If you are concerned about being pregnant, go and see your GP, the Health Centre on campus or the Family Planning Clinic immediately to have a pregnancy test. Remember to take an early morning urine sample with you. If you are pregnant do think carefully about your next step. Whether you decide to keep the baby, have it adopted or have a termination, do seek professional advice or counselling. If you decide that having a termination is what is best for you, then do act quickly as risks increase with the advancement of pregnancy (for more advice see the useful addresses section).
The previous section is designed only as a guideline to contraception. Please talk to your GP, your Health Centre on campus, or your local Family Planning Clinic for more advice. Please be careful. What is the point of having "safer sex" and using suitable birth control for 364 days of the year if you go out one night, get totally pissed and have unprotected sex with a total stranger!! If you find you are pregnant and choose to continue with the pregnancy, your Doctor can offer support along with your Education and Welfare Officer. Studying while pregnant and becoming a parent can be very stressful, so it is important to seek the support you need. You might also consider continuing with the pregnancy and having the baby adopted or even fostered. Again it is important to seek the advice and support about this from the Family Planning Association.
