MATURE STUDENTS

Becoming a mature student can be a fairly frightening experience whether it is on a full-time or part-time basis. However, many of the problems you may face as a mature student can be sorted out with the help of the Education and Welfare Officer, for example, housing, paying rent, part-time work, child care, grants and allowances, course difficulties, being lonely or simply managing your time. Nothing is trivial if it is affecting your studies.

The Students' Union is here to help. Each year the students, (that includes you) elect a Mature Students' Officer to the Students' Union Site Executive Committee. It is their job to help the Education and Welfare Officer liase with the mature student body. This is done by the formation of a Mature Students' Group at the start of the Autumn Semester. So, if you feel you may have something to offer this group, or if you think this group may have something to offer you, please make the effort and get in touch.

Look out for posters advertising meetings, or get in touch with the Education and Welfare Officer or the Mature Students' Officer for more information or advice. You may contact the Mature Students' Officer through the Students' Union General Office.
