Why Be a Class Rep?

Believe it or not there are loads of reasons why you should get involved as a Class Rep!

You can be the representative of your course colleagues ensuring that their voice is heard.   You will have the opportunity to report the problems and thoughts of your fellow students straight to the Academic staff responsible for your programme. The staff at the university really do listen do students – you could be responsible for making positive changes that will benefit not only your year, but future students.  You will meet new people and make new friends through your interaction with your course colleagues, other Class Reps and the Students’ Union.
You will develop and hone those essential transferable skills, such as communication, problem solving, negotiation, leadership.  Do not slight these skills because in the big bad world of employment these count for a lot.  The fact that you can demonstrate these skills, through you role as a Class Rep, will have you standing head and shoulders above the rest of the job seeking masses.  It looks pretty damn hot on your PDP and CV!
