"Being a Class Rep is great for your personal development and working with lecturers to improve the experience of students on your course. There is University accredited training available for you also, this takes place within BBLearn and also on campus. Participating in the training will provide you with the knowledge and support to become a brilliant rep, and once you have completed it you will also have earned an accredited 10 Credit point module which counts towards the CPPD award offered by the University. "
Enhancing Employability through Class Representation (PPD119) is a new module being offered as part of Ulster's new Certificate in Personal and Professional Development.
New online module for student rep is our advancement in leadership throughout the campuses. Not only will you receive extensive training, but with completing the course, you will receive a certificate recognised by employers, and you will also receive extra credit points for the module (This does not get added to your course credit points)
“The role of student representative requires a knowledge base and a range of organisational, negotiation and leadership skills. This Module provides an opportunity for students to develop and to become aware of the importance of the knowledge and skills necessary to collect, collate and communicate student issues to staff and students in a variety of contexts.”
This module is also a feedback mechanism for the Student's Union as we can train Class reps, who then receive feedback from students, who then feedback to the Union and course director, making communication more efficient within the University.
The module is a rewarding way for students to gain skills such as leadership, confidence and communication. Being a Class Rep means you are an ambassador for your classmates. You will be recognised and sit on Union meetings giving your opinion, which is vital to the University, and giving feedback to higher members of staff from other students.
You will receive top training from professionals so which you can use your skills to their maximum potential. At the beginning of the module, you will have the opportunity to see what is in store for the next few weeks.
It is only the first year of the module and is being piloted in the following Schools:
