How to start a society

Can’t find a society that you like......set up your own!!!

If you are interested in starting a new society, your site VP Academic and Student Affairs Officer will help you drum up support and find other students who are interested in the content of your society.

In order to constitute your society within the Students’ Union and be able to receive funding to help you run it, the secretary must present the following items to the site societies committee which is held at regular intervals throughout the semester:

• A list of 15 student member names including student ID numbers
• A society specific constitution

The forms must be approved by the Site VP Academic and Student Affairs Officer prior to the site societies committee meeting.

Application for constitution will be considered by a Societies General Meeting (of which quorum will be half plus one of all registered Societies on the site) which may accept applications which comply with these rules on a simple majority vote after one positive reading in one academic year.

Forms can both be downloaded from Forms and Resources section
