There is huge variety in the volunteering activities in which you can get involved - from working with a community group, charity or voluntary organisation in areas such as animals, media, business and marketing, children, education, environment, fundraising, health and care, IT and computing, languages, law, museums & heritage, psychology, social and community work, and sports and leisure, to taking on a voluntary leadership role with the Students' Union as a class representative, a club or society committee member or a RAG officer.
The UUSU Volunteer Centre will also be promoting student led projects - helping students run their own volunteer projects in partnership with community groups and charitable organisations. The Centre can support you to promote your project and recruit student volunteers, to finance events and initiatives and to use these experiences to enhance your employability.
Do you have an idea for a student led project? Would you like to lead a volunteering project through the UUSU Volunteering Centre?
Get in touch with the Volunteering & Societies Coordinator, Breandán Kearney through the electronic interweb at b.kearney@uusu.org.
The various streams of accreditation in place to recognise the fantastic achievements of UU student volunteers (including the EDGE Award) and the advice, training and support structures in place mean that through the UUSU Volunteer Centre there is an exciting opportunity in the academic year 2012/13 for UU students to get involved and get ahead.
