Once the UUSU Volunteering Centre re-opens for the academic year 2012/2013 in September 2012 you will be able to avail of a number of different types of accreditation depending on the level of volunteering activity both to recognise the fantastic work that you are doing as a volunteer and to equip you with evidence of the skills and experiences you have learned to wow potential employers!
One form of accreditation is the EDGE Award which is administered by the University of Ulster.
In order to achieve the EDGE Award students choose to complete a number of different types of activity, one of which is volunteering. The Students' Union are assisting the University with the volunteering strand of the EDGE Award and so you can get involved with the UUSU Volunteering Centre to work towards this accreditation.
In order to have your volunteering activity counted towards your EDGE Award:
register as a volunteer with the UUSU Volunteering Centre in September 2012 when the online registration opens.
search the volunteering opportunities that will appear on the database for an opportunity that interests and get in touch with the organisation or get involved with a Students' Union club/society committee, as a class representative or start up your own volunteering project!
get volunteering, learn new skills, meet new people and have lots of fun.
update your online volunteer log-book which will be available from September 2012 to record all the fantastic work you have done.
Make sure the volunteer organisation or relevant Students' Union contact verifies your volunteering activity with the UUSU Volunteering Centre.
Achieve the EDGE Award!
There are lots of other opportunities for accreditation. These include the Millennium Volunteers award which the UUSU Volunteering Centre will be administering in conjunction with Volunteer Now and the Students' Union's own UUSU Volunteering Centre certification. More details coming soon!
