► Class Rep Module

Skills Development through Student Representation

This is the official title of the Class Rep module that you can complete to receive recognition for your time as a representative.  It is delivered online through BBLearn and can be completed in your own time.

It is a 10-Credit Point module that is awarded towards the Certificate in Personal and Professional Development (NOT your main qualification).  The other modules that you can take towards this certificate are detailed on the Career Development Centre's website here

Regardless of whether you take any other CPPD Modules there are still FIVE very good reasons to take part in the module:

  1. It provides you with a greater knowledge and understanding of the role of a Class Representative
  2. The online area provides an opportunity for you to be part of a rep community and to connect with others from across the institution
  3. The tasks throughout the module encourage you to reflect on the skills you are using and improving as a rep and will help you convey these to future employers
  4. The module will still appear on your academic transcript and provide evidence of the extra curricular activity you have volunteered to take on
  5. If you are in 1st or 2nd year the module will count as an activity towards gaining the new EDGE Award - more information on this can be found here
Time Commitment

The module contains information that you need as a rep and incorporates tasks and discussions for you to take part in as it goes along.

We would ask that you spend around 2 hours a week checking in with the area, reading some information and participating in tasks.

By the end of Semester 2 you will have carried out the following assignments:

  • a skills audit accompanied with an action plan
  • a 500 word reflective journal (just a few paragraphs on how you felt your time as a rep went)

How to register

Send your name and B code through to us using the contact box below and we will register you on the module - it will appear as 'Student Representation Area' in your portal.

*NOTE*  If you decide to register for the module and take part in some of the tasks but feel you cannot complete the final tasks a fail will not appear on your transcript.  It is only if you pass the module that it appears on your transcript.
