Nomination and Election
Class Representatives should be elected before the end of Week 3, Semester 1. If possible, it is best practice to have an election for the role (usually two representatives by course) - it does not need to be anything official, just students volunteering themselves for the role, giving a quick speech and the class voting through a show of hands.
We have developed a short video made by current representatives to encourage students to take part as representatives, the youtube link is: http://youtu.be/oSt-FZqjNl0 (it is embedded within our website here)
If you would like someone from the Students' Union to come along and help you to recruit your reps then please get in touch with Avril Honan using the contact box below - we would love to come along and speak to students about the role and encourage participation.
Informing the Students' Union of Representatives
We would prefer for the online form to be used for informing us of the representatives on your course: the link is here: /content/806533/university_of_ulster_students_union_class_representative_registration_form/
Training Available for Representatives
This year we are trying to facilitate on campus training by School - by having this Class Reps will have the opportunity to meet their peers, as well as the staff who run their SSCC meetings. If you are the main contact for your course, please contact Mandy (m.mulholland@uusu.org) to book a training slot.
Online training is available this year for the first time; once a student registers with us they will be entered into the BBLearn area for representatives and will be able to complete the training. On completion of this they will receive a University Certificate.
A 10 credit point CPPD module is also available to students - this can be used as an activity towards the EDGE Award. more information is available here
Information for University staff on how to elect reps and also how to best run the SSCC meetings is available on the University website within the Quality Management Audit Unit. The link to it is here
