I want to nominate myself / vote for a candidate?

The nomination period is now open and we invite you to get involved, if you are struggling, you are most likely not logged into the UUSU website, make sure you click that button in the top right corner or on the main election page, and it will automatically use your Ulster login to login to our website, from there simply retry. Voting is currently not open and will open post nomination period.

Am I eligible to be a faculty rep/school rep/ student officer?

The answer is really simple, you are eligible to put yourself forward to be a faculty rep or school rep in your school or faculty only, and in addition, you must still be expected to be an Ulster University student in the next academic year. Eligibility around student officer positions is similar, any student registered to one of the NI based campuses may put themselves forward for a position, however you must be a registered student at the respective campus if applying for the role of VP Magee, Belfast or Coleraine. International students are eligible who are studying a dedicated course at Ulster University (excludes students studying abroad at Ulster as part of a separate institution course), it is advised that you check the UKCISA information, course director, and the compliance team around visa requirements.

How do I get myself elected?

That depends on you as everyone campaigns differently and there are different expectations for the different role, but the core of it is making yourself unique and selling yourself to the wider student population. Try thinking about having a solid digital presence, a presence on or even across campuses and bringing your friends onboard.

Do I have to take time out of my course to run for a role?

Not necessarily, the roles of Faculty and School Rep both have the requirement of you to be studying a course within that school or Faculty. For the officer roles, you must take time out of your course as this is a full-time position, or be due to graduate from a course.

Who should I contact if I have a complaint about the election?

You are urged if you have a complaint about a candidate or the conduct of the election to contact elections@uusu.org or submit a formal complaint via this link.
