Why vote for me?
My name is James Colgan, I am running for Vice President of Academic and student affairs in Magee. From my year as the Vice President I have learned a lot about the job and have picked up a vast range of skills that are required for the job. I believe that my experience so far is vital to be fulfilling my potential to be a great vice president for you, the students.
The Union Space
If I were re-elected I would continue to work with the societies and bunker café to push the university to allocate funding to secure a large refurbishment of the union space in the MG building, by doing this I will be able to make sure that students have a suitable space to work and relax after hours and possibly hold events for the students.
The Magee Bar
Throughout my first year in office I had many clubs, societies, and individual students asking me about the union bar on campus, so along with the refurbishment I would work with the Union, University and City Council and push to bring back the bar in an events capacity; where clubs societies and students have can have a safe environment on campus to hold events with alcohol.
The main guarantee that I can make is that if you vote for me you will be voting for an experienced candidate and will be ensuring that you’re well represented on social and academic matters with the university. I also guarantee that I will continue to have an open door policy to make sure that you the student are made to feel comfortable and supported throughout your time in Magee.
