RETURN OF THE MAC

THE MAC MANIFESTO

Hello!

I'm Andrew McAnallen — a journalism graduate and now proudly serving as your union Vice President for the Coleraine campus.

This year I've been listening to you, to understand the changes you want to see in the union. With your vote, I will build on the valuable experience gained this year; continue to make change; and continue working hard to ensure your voice is represented at the highest level in the university!

Greater Belfast Development

There is uncertainty surrounding the implications of the Greater Belfast Development. With courses migrating from campus to campus, I will ensure that information is communicated clearly and promptly, to minimise disruption for students.

Environmental Sustainability

This year I’ve really focused on making our university greener. This year, I spearheaded a campaign to make Ulster the first university in Ireland to affiliate with Meat Free Mondays. I will continue to promote environmental sustainability and enhance our NUS Green Impact profile next year if elected.

Union Engagement

Did you know that only 15 percent of our student body are involved in union activities? For me, clubs & societies are the lifeblood of the university.  If elected this year, I will strive to deliver on our UUSU Strategic Plan, by organising leadership workshops, promoting clubs & societies and I will work hard to increase voter turnout in union elections.

Mental Health

Last year a NUS-USI study found that 78 percent of students in NI are suffering with mental health issues. I will continue to promote mental health awareness across the four campuses, whilst also lobbying government for better mental health provisions.

Money Matters

With Brexit impending and no functioning government in Northern Ireland, higher education institutions face further financial strain. I will stand strong against those who try to impose budget cuts.

Ulster University SU

Ulster University Students' Union was established in 1984 and is a membership-led organisation which represents over 26,000 full and part-time Ulster students. Company Number NI646426 (Registered in Northern Ireland).
