Lectio Divina

Thursday 11 December 2025

3rd Floor of the U-block, Coleraine

6:30pm - 8:30pm

What is happening?

We will meet up, read a wee passage of scripture, chat about it, and then talk about a specific theme, such as 'how do I navigate every day life as a Catholic...' or the bold, 'The worship of Mary is idolotry!' as well as the other deep, philisophical and existential questions such as, (and I quote) "nah' lad... all that stuff's mental like..."

Long-story short: honest questions, chilled discussions over tea, and literally no pressure to know everything about everything. Everyone is welcome

What is the Lectio Divina?

It's an ancient practice to meditate on scripture from around 600AD. It's made up of four parts:
  • Lectio: A short Gospel passage is read slowly
  • Meditatio: A moment of silence to let it all sink in
  • Contemplatio: It’s read again before an open discussion on what stood out to you
  • Oratio: A wee prayer to finish it all off

Bob's your uncle, and we get stuck in to the best part.

Go on, give it a try! All are welcome

At the end of the day, it's hard to beat hot tea and a biscuit.

If you have any questions, send me a wee e-mail via O_Coisneachain-o@Ulster.ac.uk, and I'll try to get back to you as quick as possible.
