What is the Social Sport and Physical Activity Programme?

This programme is aimed at those students who want accessible activities delivered on each campus which are provided at minimal cost and allow them to fit participation around their studies and work commitments. The variety of activites in the programme offer something for everyone and you do not need prior experience to attend. 

What does the programme involve?

The programme involves three elements:

  • Active, Fit, Sporty – for women students and staff only. Funded by Department of Communities and Sport NI, this programme aims to get our women students and staff more physically active on a regular basis by offering classes free of charge. Classes and courses include Netball, Yoga, Zumba, Pilates, Self Defence and more. 
  • Be More Active – Our classes to help you feel fit, healthy while increasing social interaction. These are open open to all students and staff at Ulster University. Activities include, Weight-training, 5-a-side Soccer Leagues, Multi-Sports sessions and more.
  • Block Wars – for students living in university run accommodation only (on and off campus).  One-off fun and recreational tournaments in which blocks battle across a variety of sports; touch rugby, football, rounders, netball and more.
