Hello, I'm Alex, a second year Computing Science Student. This year, I'm standing for the role of School of Computing representative.
As a Course Representative for Computing Science, I have now gained two years' experince of gathering feedback from fellow students, communicating your concerns to academic staff, and following up, to ensure that these issues are addressed and reflected in the quality of our teaching.
Through this experience, I have developed a strong awareness and understanding of the diverse challenges faced by Computing students. I am proud to have facilitated real improvements to how our courses are delivered and communicated. Additionally, I currently serve as the Events Coordinator for the student-led Computing Society. As part of this role, I have worked with students across all year groups and disciplines, further strengthening my understanding of the many varied ways that students choose to engage with both their courses and the overall university experience.
As School of Computing representative, I would work closely with my fellow Course Reps to ensure that they feel supported, informed and confident in raising our concerns. I would continue to ensure that all students feel empowered to use their voices to facilitate real changes, and to ensure that all feedback, no matter how inconsequential, is accurately and fairly represented, and that clear outcomes are achieved.
I'm excited to build upon my knowledge from my role as Course Representative to further represent students under the School of Computing. Thank you for considering my application, and I hope to work with you all soon!
