Housing

Learn more about your rent rights and avoid problems with private rentals or halls of residence. If we are unable to assist we can refer you to the appropriate authority to help with your issue.

The Advice Bureau is well placed to help you get the assistance you need in your housing matter or refer your query to the appropriate authority.

This guidance is not intended to be exhaustive and only serves to highlight common issues experienced by students. We recommend you get in touch with us via our contact form for tailored advice.

  • Private Rental Many of our students rent privately and we understand that sometimes they can experience difficulties-we are here to help.
  • Rights at a Glance It is important that you fully understand your rights when signing for a Housing contract. Knowing these basic rights will help protect you from unfair treatment.
  • Social Housing Properties within the social rented sector are owned by public bodies such as the Northern Ireland Housing Executive and any registered housing associations.
  • University Accommodation - Res Life The Ulster University accommodation (Res Life) web section contains lots of useful information for students, including a FAQs section and accommodation rules and regulations.
