The UUSU Buddy Scheme helps new students settle into university life by connecting them with a student buddy who can offer support, answer questions, and help them settle into university life. If you are a returning student who feels equipped to help a fellow student settle into University Life please read on and find out how you can apply to be a Buddy Volunteer!

Freshers 2026

When you register at Ulster University you are automatically a member of the Students’ Union (UUSU). We are here to Represent, Support and Connect you whilst you are studying. We have loads of events planned for Freshers’ Week.

Your Student Officers are elected every year to represent you, the students of Ulster. They work to champion the issues that matter to our members and work to ensure the student experience is as rewarding as possible.

Coffee Crawl - UUB Christian Union: 16th September 2pm - 4pm; Outside BC building; Freshers, returning students, coffee lovers — come join us for our coffee crawl around some of Belfast’s best coffee spots!

International Student Dinner: 16th September 6:45pm - 9:30pm; Sinclair Seamen’s; Join and us and enjoys some international dishes!

Acoustic cafe (CU event Coleraine): 16th September 7pm - 9pm; Bob and Bert’s Portstewart

Magee CU Acai and Art Night: 16th September 7:30pm - 10:30pm; MU125; Love Acai ? Love some arts and crafts? You are warmly welcomed to our free event with free food and art supplies. Just what one student needs during a busy freshers week to wind down and relax!

Magee CU Internationals Dinner: 17th September 7pm - 9pm; MU 125; A dinner for all international students to introduce them to or welcome them back to the Christian union. Please come along and bring your friends!
