The UUSU Buddy Scheme helps new students settle into university life by connecting them with a student buddy who can offer support, answer questions, and help them settle into university life. If you are a returning student who feels equipped to help a fellow student settle into University Life please read on and find out how you can apply to be a Buddy Volunteer!

Freshers 2026

When you register at Ulster University you are automatically a member of the Students’ Union (UUSU). We are here to Represent, Support and Connect you whilst you are studying. We have loads of events planned for Freshers’ Week.

Your Student Officers are elected every year to represent you, the students of Ulster. They work to champion the issues that matter to our members and work to ensure the student experience is as rewarding as possible.

CIS beach night (CU event Coleraine): 15th September 6:30pm - 10:30pm; East Strand

LGBTQ+ Quiz and Pizza Night (Coleraine): 15th September 7:30pm - 11pm; UUC Social Space/ Room E019; Come along for a fun LGBTQ+ themed quiz in the social space beside the student bar! There's prizes to win and free pizza to devour!🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ (The entrance is step-free and the door is automatic.)

Coffee Crawl - UUB Christian Union: 16th September 2pm - 4pm; Outside BC building; Freshers, returning students, coffee lovers — come join us for our coffee crawl around some of Belfast’s best coffee spots!

International Student Dinner: 16th September 6:45pm - 9:30pm; Sinclair Seamen’s; Join and us and enjoys some international dishes!
