Students for Environmental Action & Sustainability (SEAS)
🌱 What Is SEAS?
SEAS is a student-led society for anyone who cares about the environment, enjoys being outdoors, or wants to make a positive difference on the North Coast. Located between Coleraine, Portrush, and Portstewart, our campus gives us direct access to beaches, dunes, rivers, and coastal habitats.
SEAS creates a welcoming space where students can connect with nature, meet like-minded people, and learn new environmental skills and topics, whether that’s conservation, sustainability, climate action, or simply discovering more about the landscape around us.
🌊 What We Do
We will run a mix of conservation, wellbeing, creative, and social activities, including:
-
Beach cleans and dune restoration
-
Tree planting and habitat projects with The Conservation Volunteers (TCV)
-
River Bann biodiversity surveys and water-quality monitoring
-
Clothing swaps and sustainability events on campus
-
Monthly Eco book club exploring nature writing, climate fiction, and environmental science
-
Systems-change workshops with Hope for the Future
-
Creative campaigning sessions (e.g., poster printing with Friends of the Earth)
-
Awareness campaigns on biodiversity, plastic reduction, and dune protection
-
Film nights, discussion panels, and career talks in environmental and climate fields
-
Coastal hikes, nature walks, and outdoor wellbeing socials
-
An annual Eco Fair / Climate Futures Forum bringing together students and local organisations
Through these activities, members can develop practical skills like teamwork, leadership, event planning, environmental monitoring, creative campaigning, and community engagement.
