KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. To lead on the design of high quality online and offline marketing collateral using a range of
specialist Adobe Creative Suite software including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
2. Lead on the design, from initial concepts to print ready artwork for UUSU publications, ensuring
consistency of brand.
3. Project manage the design and production of core UUSU documents, such as the annual
membership guide and impact reports, including the layout and associated photography.
4. Design and produce banners, images, and graphical elements for the website and digital media
accounts held by UUSU.
5. Ensure that all artwork is produced to the correct technical specifications through liaison with
external suppliers and internal colleagues.
6. Produce associated artwork and assist in the organisation of and attend key UUSU events,
including leadership campaigns/elections and UUSU Awards.
7. Establish and maintain efficient procedures for job production and job costing and priority
allocation of all tasks.
8. Respond efficiently to requests for information and designs and meet the deadlines set by the
internal SLAs.
9. Maintain an efficient filing system where documents can be easily retrieved in a logical way, keep
on top of artwork versions, and create master copies of all documents.
10. Research/source appropriate and correctly licenced imagery for use and manipulation in projects
and briefs, keeping an accessible library of such.11. Design and produce graphics for digital screens across Ulster University campuses.
12. To support the wider marketing and communications team with the production and delivery of
content for website and social media.
13. Carry out any other appropriate duties as requested by the Website and Content Manager and/or
the Head of Marketing and Communications.
GENERAL
The Graphic Designer will:

(3) Undertake such other duties as instructed, as are within the scope and spirit of the job purpose,
the title of the post and its grading.
NOTES
(1) The post will, at times, require additional commitment over and above normal office hours. The
post-holder is expected, within reason, to undertake such hours as are necessary to successfully
perform the duties of the post. Overtime is not payable but Flexible/Time Off in Lieu (TOIL) may
be agreed with the relevant line manager as appropriate.
(2) The post-holder is expected to undertake networking and development opportunities as
appropriate to the post. This will include occasional time away from home.
(3) Any information and data provided to the Students’ Union and used directly or indirectly in your
role shall always remain the property of the Students’ Union.
