Vote for Reform; vote for Davies! #ET4Prez
Aloha! My name is Ethan Davies, and I am running to be the next President of UUSU! Before you read about all the wonderful reasons you should vote for me, here is a little about myself:
I have been the Vice President of the Coleraine Campus, and during my tenure, I led the effort to redevelop our student spaces. Thanks to staff support, we managed to achieve a £200,000 bar refurbishment and established the SWAN Network to give students with additional needs a voice in the uni. I was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome at a very young age and know the difference that educational support can make in a student’s life.
If elected, I promise to campaign for:
- Sexual Health Campaign: Continuing the stupendous work of our SHAG Campaign and pushing for the establishment of the Sexual Health Clinic on the Magee Campus. I will also push for a GP on campuses, in line with the overwhelming majority of UK & RoI universities.
- Housing Support: Demanding a rent cap for all student accommodation on and off campus to combat the cost-of-living crisis.
- Accessibility: Implement clear directions and signage to disability entrances across the campuses and expand the responsibility of the SWAN Network. I will also campaign for free ASD & ADHD testing for students.
- Gaeilge: Expand current policies to grant the Irish language the respect it deserves in UU. Establish tri-lingual signage on all campuses and support Seachtain na Gaeilge.
- Independence: Certifying via referenda that UUSU will remain completely autonomous and independent to ensure the best protection for the student cohort.
- Transport: Lobbying the government to establish free public transport between a student’s campus of study and their registered home.
I want to be a president that anyone can chat to, vent to, or spring ideas to. If you support the policies above, consider throwing your vote in my direction.
