All Different. All Equal.
Hi my name is Oscar Kelly, and I was a Biomedical student on the Coleraine campus. If I get elected, I will campaign for better Equality, Diversity and Inclusion within Ulster University. I hope to continue the work I have done as VP Equality and Belonging this year.
-
International student representation and support from more digital, housing and childcare support to wider opportunities to expand their experience and knowledge.
-
SWANN (Students With Additional Needs Network) and better accessibility over all campuses, including interactive online maps and services to help students navigate their way around the campuses.
-
Establish free diagnosis processes for students with undiagnosed ADHD & ASD, similar to the university’s dyslexia system.
-
LGBTQIA+ lobbying and support for a more inclusive campus space. I plan to finish the work of the Identity Policy to allow students to choose their preferred names and pronouns when registering with Ulster.
-
Establish creche and childcare facilities for students who have childcaring responsibilities to relieve pressure on their finances.
-
Students right for accessible and quick access to free sanitary products in all bathrooms.
-
As well as this we can forget the fun things, I will facilitate events and social activities for those hard-to-reach groups, so everyone feels a part of the community we have in Ulster.
We are all different. We all have diverse lived experiences, religions, cultures and lives, but that is our strength at Ulster, we can learn and grow together and form a better experience for all by working together. We are all different, but we are also all equal.
