Hi, my name is Connaire. No, not Connera or Conhair as you may have heard in lectures, more like 1997's "Con-Air" starring Nicholas Cage. Nevertheless, I am running for 3rd year Politics student representative for several reasons. Firstly, the issue of seating. The fact that two of the final year modules have been provided with rooms which are exceedingly inadequate is nothing less than an embarrassment to the University. For a student to pay £4030 per year and travel to 9.15 lecture only to be told that there isn’t enough room, but that they could sign the register and leave, is wholly unacceptable. Now that the issue has been partially resolved, I would look forward to ensuring that there are no recurrences of this issue. Secondly, I feel that a new face, and new ideas, is needed to challenge and replace the political hegemony that has dominated the student representative positions of the previous two years. Finally, I feel that I could advance the student-administration relationship through effective communication to provide increased clarity not only between student reps and the administration, but also between student reps and the students themselves, which I feel has been lacklustre. Thank you.
