My name is Rafaela and I am a first year student and currently studying BSc Biomedical Science DPP (Pathology).
I don’t have much experience, in fact, this is the first time I’m nominating myself for such role, and I can be quite shy at times but I’m am well suited to the role because I believe that I am reliable, assertive and eager to help my course-mates.
I’m easily approachable and I’ll always go out of my way to make sure everyone feels safe and included.
Being a fresher, I can see how impactful the role of a course representative can be - being able to consolidate thoughts and ideas, set directions and facilitate events so as to make the stay at Ulster University a unique experience for everyone. Especially for those who want to reach out and need a moment of help and assistance.
Also, I have advantages in languages. As someone who grew up in Portugal and moved to Northern Ireland a few years ago I can fluently speak Portuguese and English.
I am not sure if it helps but the fact that I don’t drink actually means that I am sober when I make decisions. :)
