TURN UP; vote in the 2024 General Election
Thursday 04 July 2024
7am - 10pm
The United Kingdom will have a General Election on Thursday the 4th of July 2024. Students make up 10% of the voting population in the UK. In some areas, you are the kingmakers – if you TURN UP.
How do I Turn Up?
Before the 4th of July, you will receive a polling card in the post. This card will have the location of your polling station on it. You must go to this polling station, turning up at a different one will have you turned away!
As a student, you can be registered at both your home and term-time address if both are in the UK. You may receive two polling cards, one at each address. You can only vote in one constituency, so decide beforehand where you’re going to cast your vote. You do not need to take your polling card with you to vote, but it will make the process faster.
Bring your ID; you will not be able to vote without a valid photo ID.
Don't preference candidates - In General Elections they use the first past the post system. This means you need to Give An X to only one candidate. If you list numbers or put a mark next to more than one candidate, your vote will be disqualified. You must put an X or a tick in the box next to the candidate you want to vote for
