We hope that you have seen our communication before Christmas which outlined our plans to outsource our commercial services provision.  This is in direct response to the review we undertook around the long-term sustainability of these services.  The comments from you formed a core part of this review to ensure that whatever direction we took, we continued to provide students with affordable, sustainable and inclusive commercial outlets across the Magee, Coleraine and Jordanstown campuses.  We have spent the last number of weeks translating all this feedback into a document which reflects the needs of students and ensures that student experience is at its heart.  The process of securing a third-party will now develop over several months and we will engage with you throughout this process.

 

We feel it is critical to also reassure you that the Officers, Trustees and Management continue to be committed to this process having no fundamental impact on your use, access and interaction with the SU spaces.  That would be unacceptable to us and we will not partner with any third party that would inhibit student use in any way.  Over the forthcoming days and weeks, you may hear several voices on the decision to tender due to our continued engagement with multiple stakeholders, however we would like to reiterate that this decision has been taken with the best intentions around student experience and sustainability of services, supported by extensive research and discussions, as well as a strong and vibrant student voice.
