University releases students from accommodation contracts

Following our statement on Friday and continued lobbying to the University calling to allow students early release from their university accommodation. We are delighted to see that this decision has now been made, with no financial penalities for students. This will undoubtedly be of great relief to many of our members!

Now, the focus will shift sharply to the purpose-built student accommodations, and students living in the private rented sector.

We're calling on the owners of these purpose-built accommodations in Belfast, to take the same action as Queen's University Belfast and Ulster University have made for students in residences.

Commit to allowing our members to be released from their leases early!

We're calling on students, political parties, Councillors and MLAs to show solidarity and share this message!

Profits cannot and will not come before people. We must stand up for students' rights!
