Film Making

Get REEL advice and join Magee's first Film Making Society today.

Ulster University Filmmaking Society is a place where you can meet like minded individuals, whilst also learning new filmmaking skills and creating collaboratively with a range of individuals.

Due to the Covid-19 crisis our first semester will be online, however this won’t stop us from creating a space for new and old members to meet new people, collaborate on projects and learn new skills.

Activities you can expect, include film screenings, remote workshops and collaborations with other societies and much much more.

To stay up to date with activities: Like our Facebook Page and follow us on Instagram. And once you have become a member you can join our Facebook Group where you can have a say and can interact with your fellow members.

This year marks a change in leadership at the society with a new President, Secretary, and Treasurer.

President: Leon Wright is a second year Cinematic Arts Student with the dream of exploring his directorial passion and storytelling through the art of filmmaking. “In my first year, Film Society taught me that there are more creative people out there who are equally as talented and devoted to the beloved arts. And that being part of an ever-growing community can help you achieve your goals, gain new and relevant skills as well as meeting new friends and developing those relationships that could be super beneficial in the long run.  We hope that the Film Society can help YOU and that you enjoy what we have in store!”

Secretary: Alice Conlan-Bonsall is a second year Cinematic Arts student who loves writing in pretty much every form. She is trying to learn how to play guitar and is an avid Dungeons and Dragons Player and Dungeon Master.  “In first year, filmmaking society helped me to make friends and learn more about the craft I love. I can’t wait to work with my fellow committee members to continue the legacy left by the former committee.”- Alice Conlan-Bonsall

Treasurer: Peter Finlay is a second-year cinematic arts student who is a filmmaker and practitioner painter that loves creating stories within said art work. He is an avid reader and Witcher fanatic intrigued by the works of polish author Andrej Sapkowski. “I was thrilled by my first-year experience and the memories and skills I gained, topped only by new friendships forcing me to step out from my former hermits shell.”

We can’t wait to meet all of you when the semester begins and we hope that we can make your film society experience fun even in these weird times.
