UUSU Buddy Volunteer

We are looking for returning students with a positive attitude and a good experience of student life which they are enthusiastic to share with others.

As a Buddy Volunteer you will be matched with new students and will help guide and support them as they settle into.

Duties and responsibilities will include providing peer support to your buddy, regularly checking in with your buddy (you may chat online, meet for a coffee or give them a campus tour), introducing your buddy to activities, groups and clubs they can get involved in.

By becoming a UUSU Buddy Volunteer gives you the opportunity to become part of a community of like minded people with a passion for helping others as well as fulfilment of helping to improve the experience of students.

You will also gain knowledge and understanding of the Students’ Union and University which can act as a springboard into other term-time leadership positions across the organisation along with key transferable skills such as communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills.

Wellbeing Garden Project

The Wellbeing Garden welcomes involvement from students of all skillsets and backgrounds - not just growers! Event-organisers, artists - whatever skills you’ve got, you will be a massive help and make a much valued contribution to this project on Magee campus.

A small but dedicated team of students have already successfully harvested 3 raised beds of organic produce, secured £5,000 of funding, and hosted a number of opening events.

The Wellbeing Garden committee are keen to continue building on their success and would welcome your support in helping the project grow!
